The Netherlands and Egypt drew 1-1 at Stadio La Favorita, cancelling each other out after 90 minutes. Wim Kieft opened the scoring for the Dutch with his first international goal on 58 minutes from a free kick.

Egypt equalized through Magdi Abdelghani's penalty in the 83rd minute, sending the match into extra time. The Netherlands managed to hold off Egypt until full-time, as neither team could find another breakthrough.
