United States 1–1 Switzerland: A Hard-Fought Draw
The final score was 1-0 to the United States, who earned three points for their second consecutive win. The result puts them top of the group with six points from two matches. Switzerland now trail by a point behind England and the US.
Eric Wynalda scored the winning goal in the 44th minute when he received a through-ball on the left side of the box before slotting past Swiss goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff. The US had already taken the lead in the 39th with a well-crafted team move that ended with Georges Bregy's shot hitting the post, only for it to rebound and fall at Wynalda's feet.

Switzerland pushed hard for an equalizer but were unable to break down the American defense. The Swiss had several chances but failed to capitalize on their possession superiority.
Roy Hodgson made two substitutions in the second half which seemed to unsettle Switzerland further, however they could not find a way past the US goal.
