For the first time in their history, Jordan walked onto the World Cup stage. Jamal Sellami led the squad into the unknown.
Jordan's World Cup debut follows their first-ever Asian Cup final in 2023, lost to Qatar. The breakthrough under coach Hussein Ammouta has been years in the making: decades of modest AFC presence, then a sudden leap into continental contention. The squad mixes domestic players from Al-Wehdat and Al-Faisaly with European-league veterans.
Jordan found the group stage unforgiving, unable to pick up a single victory against their opponents. Their campaign featured a 1-3 defeat against Austria, a narrow 1-2 loss to Algeria, and a 1-3 defeat against Argentina. Argentina proved to be a step too far, and Jordan's campaign came to a decisive end in the the group phase.

Ali Olwan led Jordan's attack with 1 goal at the 2026 World Cup. Shared the top-scorer honours with Al-Taamari and Al-Rashdan, all with 1.
Sellami, a Moroccan coach, took over in 2024 after Ammouta's departure. His North African technical background has brought tactical variety to a squad that had long been defined by physical, direct football. Guided Jordan to their first World Cup winless under Sellami.
