It was a tournament to forget for China, who left without a single victory to their name. Goals proved hard to come by, with just 0 in 3 matches, and their lack of firepower ultimately told.
China found the group stage unforgiving, unable to pick up a single victory against their opponents. Their campaign featured a 0-2 defeat against Costa Rica, a heavy 0-4 defeat to Brazil, and a heavy 0-3 defeat to Turkey. The World Cup dream ended earlier than hoped, with China bowing out in the first round.

China's aggressive playing style and ambitious approach were evident from the start, but ultimately couldn't compensate for their lack of quality on the pitch.
