Brazil 1970
Brazil at Mexico 1970 are considered the greatest football team in history. Pelé, Jairzinho, Tostão, Gérson, and Carlos Alberto formed an unrepeatable quintet. They won all six matches, scoring in every one. In the final on 21 June at the Estadio Azteca, before 107,412 spectators, Brazil produced an exhibition for the ages against Italy. Pelé opened the scoring with a header, Gérson fired from outside the box, Jairzinho who scored in every match of the tournament added the third, and Carlos Alberto closed the 4-1 with the most beautiful goal ever scored in a final: a nine-pass team move that swept the length of the pitch. Brazil kept the Jules Rimet Trophy permanently after winning it three times and gifted the world the memory of football at its absolute perfection.
